Santa Rosa Hospital Workers Ask Management for Fair Union Election | Fri. Jan. 21 3:00 PM | Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (Workers will meet outside main entrance) 1165 Montgomery Drive Santa Rosa, CA |
Santa Rosa—On Friday, Jan. 21st, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital workers, including licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, operating room technicians, pharmacy technicians, clerks, housekeeping and dietary staff will speak to hospital management requesting that St. Joseph Health System, the corporation that owns and runs Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, provide an environment that enables employees to make a decision on unionization without interference. On February 2nd and 3rd, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital workers are scheduled to vote in a union election.
Since employees filed for their union election in mid-December, management has been conducting an anti-union campaign based on fear and intimidation, impugning the mission and motives of the union, and holding mandatory group and individual anti-union meetings. Management’s actions have created a hostile environment for employees about to vote in a union election.
Dolores Huerta, co-founder and 1st Vice President Emeritus of the United Farm Workers of America, retired State Assemblymember Pat Wiggins, community leaders and residents will support the workers’ efforts to organize a union by requesting that management immediately cease their negative campaign.
